On Wednesday 11 September we attended The House of Lords for the launch of the United Growth Briefing Paper prepared by The Entrepreneurs Network and supported by Sumer. Over the last two years, the tax-free allowance for capital gains tax has been cut by over three-quarters. For the tax year that recently began on 6 April 2024, the Annual Exempt Amount has been reduced to £3,000 (£1,500 for trustees). These reductions mean that more and more of us are likely to be affected by capital gains tax.

Our very own Simon Owen is taking part in the Manchester100 on Sunday 4th September 2021 in aid of the Christie Charitable Fund. The Christie is an amazing charity that provides cancer care to cancer patients and help make a difference to families affected by cancer, this is a charity close to my heart, as Simon lost his dad to cancer, and we are sure you will have friends or family members who have been affected by this horrendous disease.
More than £2,500 has been raised by female entrepreneurs and local business leaders as part of a charity fashion show in aid of a much-loved children’s hospice. Over 80 local business women from in and around Stoke-on-Trent attended the event which was organised by NatWest and DPC Chartered Accountants in aid of the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.
In late 2016 myself and the fellow client managers, Nick Wright, Kelsy Cheadle, Steph Smith and an associate director at DPC, Michelle Coates decided we would like to take part in a challenge to generate funds for a local charity, The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice. This is a charity we all felt passionate about and one that was close to hearts.
